Being above reproach does not mean to be "perfect". In fact, to believe a person is, or should be, perfect/sinless is a delusion brought about by legalism. Yet, an elder/shepherd is to be "above reproach". An accusation does not mean guilty. An error of judgement does not mean disfellowship or condemnation. An irresponsible act does not mean humiliation. However, if an elder/shepherd is living a lifestyle opposite of Christ and refuses to repent then he not above reproach. He needs to repent and live for godliness in Christ. If his lifestyle changes then praise God. If not . . . then keep studying. Shouldn't all Christians be above reproach? The Lords humbled . . .
