Under His Wing

A friend of mine wrote poetry before he died. His name was Dallas Brown. He wrote two books: Intimate Voice of God, Heavy Rain and Light Breezes.

The following is an unpublished poem by him for me and my second wife after my first wife passed.

Under His Wing

Under the Wing of God

I found you

My love, my one and only,

We would have been married long

And happily

But your tragic death

Changed all plans.

Why? Why was I bereft

Of my youthful, loving,

My chaste virgin,

Who knew no man,

Who waited until we

Became one in our own home?

My love for her will not fade.

Healing trudged slow

And sadly, until a day

When he touched my face,

With a Light Breeze

Reminding me of his many

Blessings of life.

I could only love again,

By this power of God.

Don't think me rash,

Or hasty, or as giving up

On a dream I once had.

My dream remains

To do His Will!

If a friend join me

As a new wife

In the Lord,

We shall continue on

In His Steps!

God Wants the Best of Our Gifts

"Time passed.  Cain brought an offering to God from the produce of his farm.  Abel also brought an offering, but from the firstborn animals of his herd, choice cuts of meat.  God liked Abel and his offering, but Cain and his offering didn't get his approval.  Cain lost his temper and went into sulk" (Genesis 4:3-5 MSG).

Why was God displeased with Cain's sacrifice?  Was it because Cain didn't sacrifice animals?  He could have easily traded his produce for one of Abel's quality animals.  Yet, the text doesn't specify that animals were the only sacifice God required at this time.  So, his land produce may not have been the issue.  A likely reason God wasn't happy with Cain's offering was because Cain didn't offer the best of his wealth and prosperity?  Perhaps he offered the second-rate produce to God.

This text, as well as so many others, is dealing with our attitude toward God.  Was Abel "more" perfect than Cain?  No.  But it seems that Abel's worship to God was accepted because he used the best of what he had to offer; thereby, honoring God for who He truly is - the provider of all blessings.

"Knowing" A Woman

3/1/2011

An extra-biblical writing states, "You 'know' one woman, you know them all.  You 'know' many women, you know none".

We live in the "hook-up" culture where sexual unbridaled behavior is the norm.  It is sad that many don't understand and may never know what true love is, what it means to biblical "know" a love of your life.

I have known two loves.  My first wife of 15 years passed about 5 years ago.  And my wife now has been my love for 3 and 1/2 years.  How blessed I am to know what real love really is.

Thank you God for keeping me humble before You.

Babies

"By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised" (Hebrews 11:11).

Today is the day that my wife and I found out that our next child is a girl.  What excitement.

In today's world, technology has allowed us to look at her in her mother's womb; both, 3D and 4D images.  She looks healthy and is beautiful.  Honestly, how can anyone believe in any form of macro evolution?

It's amazing how this passage speaks about Sarah's ability to conceive.  It was not by the will of man that she suddenly became fertile; rather, it was by the power of God.

How can barren ground suddenly be able to produce growth?  God is the answer.  Women, everywhere, must remember that it is God that allows your ground to produce the fruit of a child that is seeded in a way that God created.  Be humble before Him and recognize that it is He who gives life.

Repent Before God

"When God saw what they [the Ninevites] did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it" (Jonah 3:10).

All nations and peoples need to understand that God is God regardless of your desire to follow Him.  He sends His people to teach and spread the Word.  For nations who stray, God delivers warnings.  Those who repent will receive blessings but those who don't will receive curses.  How is your country in relation to the teachings of God?  Do you need to repent?  If you do, humble yourself before the Lord so that He may relent from the calamaty that will come because of spiritual neglect and wrongdoing.

Relationship With Jesus

"Someone told him (Jesus), 'Look, your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.'  But to the one who had told him this, Jesus replied, 'Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?'  And pointing to his disciples, he said, 'Here are my mother and my brothers!  For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother'" (Matthew 12:47-50).

A proper relationship with Jesus is important; at least, it is important to Jesus.  First, He distinguishes between a physical heratige and spiritual heratige by stating that blood relationship is not what counts; rather, love, dedication, and an obedient faith to the heavenly Father (cf. Romans; Galatians; 1 John).

Second, the spiritual relationship with Jesus is not just based on a "blind" following and meaningless repitition.  (Jesus doesn't want a "blind faith").  He pointed to His disciples.  A disciple is a follower.  A learner in the true sense.  They are those who choose to follow by free will.  They continue to learn, grow, and produce fruit of righteousness.

A person of relationship with Jesus (and God) are those who "does the will of my (Jesus') Father in heaven" (Matthew 12:50).  Other passages in Scripture teach that this obedience is not one that attempts to earn their salvation (Romans; Galatians).  It is a faith that lives a life worthy of the gospel of Christ; i.e., because one desires to wholeheartedly live for Him because of His love that He has already given.

Are you in a relationship with God?

Do You Have Your Attorney?

4/12/2010

"My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin.  But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.  He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world" (1 John 2:1-2).

At this time in history, when the apostle John wrote these words, Christians had truly been influenced by false and heretical teachings.  Some believed that Jesus did not exist in fleshly form.  From this incorrect presupposition many people were led astray and even believed that they could not sin regardless of their lifestyle.  Well, this false teaching had to be contended with.

Jesus is the saviour from our sins.  Yet at the same time He is, also, our attorney before God.  Those who do not deny Him, through their understandings and actions, will be blessed by His skills as a defense attorney.  Those who follow false teachings about Jesus will not be able to have Him as their attorney.  This would be unfortunate.  Remember, we must have true and obedient faith in Jesus Christ.

The Eyes Of The Lord

"But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD" (Genesis 6:8).

Humans, sometimes, are the "craziest" people.  We tend to lie, cheat, and hide the wrongs we do.  We become scared that we will be "found out" for our dumb descisions.  Why?  Doesn't everyone sin?  Is there anyone who does not make a mistake?  Who out there has not made a "heavy handed" sin against God or man?

We think that we can hide our indiscresions from our spouse.  Some believe they can sneak monies away from the IRS.  Perhaps, you have harbored anger against someone.

The people who lived during the lifetime of Noah, at the time of the world-wide flood, were corrupt and violent (Genesis 6:11, 13).  They were also wicked and evil continually as a lifestyle (Genesis 6:5).  This attitude of theirs is what they have allowed themselves to be as a people.  This is not what God intended for the creation of mankind.  He does not desire perversion of His creation.  In fact, mankind grieved God to His heart (Genesis 6:6).

Fortunately, God saw something positive in Noah.  What a complement to Noah.  Noah sought to live righteously before God in the face of a negative and evil world (Hebrews 11:7; 2 Peter 2:5).

In todays world; especially, the United States of America, there is evil and wickedness abounding.  People in this world are violent, destructive, and immoral.  Can you imagine how much more worse the prevelency of evil was during Noah's time for God to only see one person who had favor in His eyes?

How does God see you?  Do you have favor in God's eyes?  Be humble before the Lord and continually fight against the evil that corrupts mankind.
