Lord Or Savior? 02/06/2012
I have heard the statement, "Jesus is your savior but He may not be your Lord." I believe I understand the reasoning behind this thought but it is definately not a biblical thought. It's a crock thought. If you choose to follow Jesus as your savior you also agree to make Him your Lord and King. Obedience is necessary when you are a servant of the King. If Jesus is your Savior, remember He is also your Lord. The Lord's humbled . . . John A. Reeves Add Comment It's Not An Accident 01/23/2012
Godliness and ungodliness do not happen by accident. Whose are you? The Lord's humbled . . . John A. Reeves Blessings For A Lifetime 12/27/2011
It's almost the end of another year. Yet, for you, it may be about the beginning of a lifetime. In fact, the Bible refers to coming "into" Christ as a birth - a new creation. To go "into" something means you are first outside. Imagine a circle. To go "into" a circle means that you first need to pass the barrier of the circle, thereby, coming inside of its perimeter. This is basic gramatical structure/syntax of the English language. Yet, it is no diferrent than the Kione Greek language the New Testament was written in. All lanuage has structure. Look it up. Don't be afraid. A person comes "into" Christ when they are touched by the blood of Christ at baptism "into" Jesus. This is how God has structured His being born again. (Check out all passages dealing with conversion.) Be the Lord's humbled . . . John A. Reeves Power Over The Pigs 11/07/2011
In our family study, Mark 5 taught us about Jesus dealing with the demon entity(ies) called Legion. Jesus removed these demons from the man. Jesus did not fear the demons. Jesus talked with the demons. Jesus was feared by the demons. Jesus allowed them to go to the pigs. Jesus healed the demonic man. What demon is there that will not bow to Jesus? What demon do we have to fear if Jesus is leading our way? The Lord's humbled . . . John A. Reeves Soil Is The Person 11/05/2011
In our family's study, we touched on Mark 4. Our discussion centered on the parable of the soils. In short, the soils are people and the seed is the word of God. People have the choice to be truly receptive to the word of God by applying it in their life in a consistant lifestyle. It is not intended to be fake or short-lived. Rather, it is a choice of dedication to the "living word" - Jesus Christ. Let us all live by an obedient faith in Jesus Christ. The Lord's humbled . . . John A. Reeves Fasting 11/03/2011
In our family Bible study this last night, we read Mark 2. Within that chapter we touched on the subject of fasting. Fasting is ment to be a time of solemnity with oneself and God. Abuses of fasting included: lack of sincerity, wrong purpose, and for show only. Although many people say that the NT does not command fasting, it can't be said that it is not expected. Fasting is intended to be an avenue of focusing on God. Focus of prayer. Focus of thought. Focus of devotion to God. Please, be humble to God. The Lord's humbled . . . John A. Reeves Bible Time With Your Family 11/02/2011
Last night our family started to read the gospel of Mark. Each of us took turns reading from Scripture. Afterword, we talked a little, had a prayer, and hugged each other on the way to bed. There are benefits to studying the word with your family. (My oldest two children are 9 and 10 years old.) Improve reading skills. Improve study skills. Improve family structure. Improve dedication to God's word. Improve relationship with God through an obedient faith in Jesus Christ. We love our children. Yet, we know that if God isn't first in their life, because of our lack of teaching, we have done a disservice to God as parents. Remain humble before the Lord. The Lord's humbled John A. Reeves Children 10/27/2011
Without a doubt, God gave children as blessings. Are they blessings to provide us entertainment? Are they blessings to bring us pride? Are they blessings only for their obedience? Are they blessings for their future ability to provide us monetary gifts? Hmmm? Maybe their blessings because they offer us (as parents) opportunities to glimpse how God might look at us (people). We need His love. We need His discipline. We need His patience. We need His grace. We need His teachings. We need His provisions. We need His law. We need . . . . What honest parent, who looks within themselves, doesn't see God's desire for the lost in their baby's eyes. Who doesn't sense a deep awareness of the need to nurture "a little one" toward Christ. A parent recieves wonderful blessings to know that they can glimpse what it means to love one who has a will to choose. They receive blessings when they live for Christ. They receive blessings when they realize that they can't do it (parent) without the assistance of God. What a blessing a child is when they, by their nature, teach us to rely on God. I read an article on "Fox News" website about a Christian "pastor" who refused to recant his belief in Christ. According to the laws of his land, he must be put to death. Evidently, they (the Iranian court system) said that since his ancestors were Muslim then he must take on the Muslim faith or die. Evidently, the death penalty will be carried out today. Pray for him and his family to have the courage to continue to stand for the name of Christ Thanks 09/20/2011
I just wanted to thank everyone who enjoys reading my articles. I enjoy writing them. Yet, more importantly, I hope God uses them to benefit His kingdom through you. The Lord's humbled . . . John A. Reeves | CategoriesAll John A. Reeves
